Fix Slow Photoshop CS5
If you've recently bought or upgraded to Adobe Photoshop CS5 (or CS4 for that matter), you might notice that it's gotten somewhat slower compared to past releases. Coincidentally, Adobe has begun touting the fact that Photoshop uses your computer's graphics card to display its images. I searched for a few minutes on the topic of why Photoshop's gotten so slow, and the most common solution I've seen was upgraded graphics card drivers. So I went to nVidia's site, downloaded the drivers specifically released to integrate with CS5 and … no dice. Then I had an ingenious thought: disable OpenGL drawing in Photoshop altogether. Lo and behold, it works very fast now, just like the previous versions did.To disable OpenGL drawing, go to Edit→Preferences→Performance and untick the checkbox that says "Enable OpenGL drawing." Doing this also has the positive side effect of disabling animated zoom when zooming with a shortcut.
